Extracts from 19th c. Books (Colour)

The invention of Photographic Chromo-Lithography in the mid-19th century introduced a new, highly sophisticated method of printing in full colour. As the examples in this section show, this process was soon taken up by various notable figures in the Art world of the time who, together with their teams of assistants, produced a series of magnificent publishing projects dedicated to the decorative arts (including those of Islam). The results were these veritable masterpieces of the Art of the Book.
