The Tomb of Kalkhoran

The tomb of Kalkhoran is the tomb of the father of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ishaq Ardabili, the ancestor of the Safavid sultans, and is located in the village of Kalkhoran, three kilometers from Ardabil, Iran.

At the entrance of the tomb of Sheikh Amin al-Din Jabrail Kalkhoran, the date of construction of which, according to the existing inscription, dates back to 1032 AH.

The techniques used include woodcarving on the door, the inscriptions woodcarving are flat and pavement of patterns is done by woodcarving convex method, In the margin of the door, in the Bao section, poems have been embossed, some of which have been shed and destroyed, and these inscriptions have been attached to the lower board with doornail.

The inscriptions are framed in the shape of 2 suns, which are connected to each other, also the Baoi Door worked with a suls script. The whole Baoi Door is decorated with the inscriptions of the poems and the names of the Imams Infallibles.

Safavid woodcarving is one of the most popular Khatai elements with round six-pointed flowers, Dalbardar, Akhtar, Shah Abbasi flowers and buds, and flowers with more leaves that originate in Sassanid art, and more than Chinese Khatai elements in Timurid inlay. Common (such as dahlias, lilies, lilies and cloves) are negligible. Pomegranate flower, pomegranate bud and trayle are three elements of Khatai that are the features of Safavid style inlay.

The margins around the inscriptions and the frame of the trelliswork are worked in the form of a narrow strip around the door with pomegranate flowers, and a yellow khatai with an azure background.
